Welcome Mimi Gals! To our first ever trend-spotting blog post.

These are going to become a regular staple on the site, so set a reminder, strap in, and get comfy. We’re diving into the hottest, freshest trend predictions for September.

Coming to you in August so you have time to prepare your wardrobe (or your bank account). This list has been curated by none other than Mimi’s very own fashion brain (plus a few Pinterest rabbit holes and chaotic tiktoks, obviously).

The season shift is creeping in, and here in the UK, it’s anyone’s guess what the weather is doing. August has basically become the new transitional month between summer and autumn, and September? Well, that’s where my heart truly lies.

September! The peak of fashion dressing.  Just cool enough for a jumper, but still warm enough to rock a mini skirt. It’s the month when personal style really shines, the fashion Olympics, if you will. This is when you can spot the icons who know how to style, from the ones who just… put clothes on.

So without further ado, let’s get into it. In no particular order, here are my top trend predictions for September:

Oversized Glasses with Colourful Frames

Say goodbye to minimalistic eyewear. Say hello to stepping into the spotlight with statement specs. From cherry red box frames to translucent green rectangles, colourful glasses are less about vision correction and more about sartorial expression. They’re the new "it" accessory. No prescription required.

I’m obsessed with this look. I’ve spotted a few select fashion baddies already rocking their Jimmy Fairly obsession to perfection. At first, I was sceptical, thinking, how is a kiwi green frame going to protect my eyes? But after some research, I can officially approve: they’re all UVA & UVB protected. We love safe style.

The pinterest aesthetic of a chunky frame has been on my feed for at least 4 months, living rent free. However to pair it with the Jimmy Fairly staple funky lenses. Game. Over. I am a massive fan, creative expression and interchangeable lenses? Consider me converted.

My favourite picks:

Chunky Wool Turtlenecks

Summer’s going to be over, and comfort is definitely going to be in. Oversized, thick-knit turtlenecks are making their return, and they’re giving luxury-chic with a side of cosy. Think exaggerated textures, rich neutrals, and an effortlessly snug silhouette.

I might even go as far as to say this is going to be my favourite trend prediction. I am obsessed with the chicness of covering the neck with a warm wool. So you can feel confident & warm all at once. Strut around with your knee high boots, chunky frame Jimmy Fairly’s, mini skirt & pair it with a sleek wool turtleneck. You are Golden!!

Headbands

Blair Waldorf revival alert. Maybe it's because I'm rewatching Gossip Girl, or maybe it’s because they are iconic - but headbands are making their triumphant return. Whether marbled, solid, or translucent, these retro gems add a touch of nostalgic whimsy to your autumn look.

Knee-High Boots (Again)

The ultimate transitional staple. Knee-high boots refuse to leave the trend cycle, and honestly? I’m not mad about it. Whether classic black leather or buttery brown suede, this versatile favourite is stomping into September with a vengeance. Heeled, flat, slouchy or sleek - pick your fighter. You can’t really go wrong with a knee high boot and I'm here to formally announce that they are back.

Leopard Print — In or Out?

Leopard hasn’t really left circulation since 2023, however this season it's got a point to prove. After being borderline “tacky” for a minute, it’s clawing back into high fashion territory - I think potentially it is more of a high street, cheaper trend now.

So I'm not giving it too much of my time. However I think for higher fashion, think muted tones (serving straight snow leopard), elegant silhouettes, and a little less tacky. Done right, it’s luxe and powerful. Done wrong, it’s... questionable. So tread carefully.

The Revival of Modesty

After seasons of micro-minis and sheer everything, the pendulum is swinging the other way.

Modesty has always been in, however I think with the influx of Influencers like Sofia Richie and Kendall Jenner dressing more modestly in recent years, there is going to be a real increase in a quieter style.

Think longline coats, maxi skirts, and layering done right. Less about showing

the most skin, more about showing the right skin. It’s not about covering up, it’s about selective styling. Not “look at me,” but “look closer”

My go-to stores for quiet chic:

  • Massimo Dutti

  • Mango

  • Victoria Beckham

  • COS

  • Free People

Hope you love these hot takes on emerging trends... and if I see a fashion icon rocking around in high neck jumpers, knee high boots, jazzy headband, and the coolest glasses ever. Just know i’m taking credit & I'll know you are an absurdly cool girl who reads with love, mimi…
